Hi there 👋🏽

I'm Justin,

A Self-Taught Front End Developer

About Me

I'm a 23 year old self-taught Front End Developer from San Jose, CA.

In August of 2019 I felt that I wasn't truly happy working as an IT Support Specialist. So I decided that I was going to pursue my true passion of becoming a frontend developer. I would quickly make a habit of waking up at 4am in the morning so that I could study and practice before I'd have to go into work.

By September 2019, I thought it would be a good idea to start documenting my journey of becoming a developer to inspire others as well as keep myself acountable. So I started my Instagram and posted daily, talking about the progress I was making and what concepts I was currently learning.

I mainly learned from taking online courses on Udemy such as The Web Developer Bootcamp, The Complete JavaScript Course 2020, Modern React with Redux, The Complete React Native + Hooks Course plus many others!

I am constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone to learn more and make my dreams come true. All the while inspiring others to do the same and pursue what makes them truly happy!

Portfolio Website

My Portfolio website where you can learn more about me and the projects that I've made so far! Since I know React, I decided I wanted to practice making a website using an Static Website Generator such as Gatsby.

NBA Stats Tracker

An Application that pulls stats from all NBA Players from an API. You can query for individual players or scan through the pages to view the huge list of players. I used this app as an opportunity to practice using Redux for state management.

-Built with React, Redux, Styled Components and Semantic UI

COVID-19 Global Tracker

A simple application that fetches data regarding COVID-19 stats worldwide. Choose the country you want to display stats for, and it will render within the card in the middle of the screen. I used this as well as another opportunity to practice using React Hooks and creating my own custom Hooks. Here I created a custom Hook that on page load would fetch the data for all Countries from an endpoint.

-Built with React & Styled Components

Weather Application

Weather Application that was my very first unlead project built with Vanilla JavaScript. After going through a couple tutorials, I decided that I wanted to practice the knowledge I had retained and built this app. On page load, it will ask to pull your geolocation in order to display the correct data per your specific long and lat. I also implemented a simple toggle button that will convert from Fahrenheit to Celcius!

-Built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
